Here are some common questions we hear at our office:

Q -  Do you take my insurance?

A -  We are "in-network" with MetLife and are a Premier Provider with Delta Dental.  We will be happy to submit your claims to your plan, but please keep in mind that every plan is different, so please be aware of your individual plan benefits.  Ultimately, you are responsible for any out of pocket costs you incur.  We will be happy to discuss any questions  you may have.  

Q - My child has a toothache.  Should I call the dentist?

A - Look inside you child's mouth.  Does your child have any loose teeth?  It may be the natural process of teething, as some discomfort is to be expected.  If your child continues to complain, or if there is any discoloration, broken teeth or swelling, give us a call.   

Q -My child's tooth is loose.  Should I help him take it out?

A - Generally, the answer is no.   Parents that pull a tooth which may be less than ready to come out face the risk of damage to sensitive tissue, the possibility of infection, bleeding and pain.  The best policy is patience and allowing your child to play with the tooth herself.  Children are naturally curious about their loose tooth and will often wiggle it and play with it until it falls out on its own.

Q - Why do regular dental visits matter?

A -  Regular dental visits are important because they can help spot dental health problems early on when treatment is likely to be simpler and more affordable. They also help prevent many problems from developing in the first place. Visiting your dentist regularly is also important because some diseases or medical conditions have symptoms that can appear in the mouth.

Q - What can I expect at a routine dental appointment? 

A - The dentist or hygienist will ask about your recent medical history, examine your mouth and decide whether or not you need x-rays. Depending on your treatment plan, the hygienist may use a special dental instruments to check your gums for gum disease. Your dentist will evaluate your overall dental health and conduct an oral cancer screening by holding your tongue with gauze, checking it and your whole mouth, then feeling your jaw and neck. 

Q - When should I schedule my child's first dental visit? 

A -  The ADA recommends that your child’s first dental visit should take place after that first tooth appears, but no later than the first birthday. Why so early? As soon as your baby has teeth, he or she can get cavities. Being proactive about your child’s dental health today can help keep his or her smile healthy for life. Don't worry if your toddler can't or won't sit still or cooperate for their entire appointment.  The hygienist and doctor will keep the visit positive and geared toward their needs.  

Q - I have a tooth ache.  I didn't know if I should call the emergency line / Can it wait until the morning?

A-  If you have severe pain that isn't being helped with OTC medication, swelling or fever,  or if you have tooth or mouth trauma, give us a call.  We have an emergency line that goes directly to the doctor. 

Q - What methods of payment to do you accept / Do you take payment plans?  

A - We accept all major credit cards, cash, check and Care Credit.  Payment is due in full at the time of your appointment.

Q - What kind of whitening options do you offer?

A - We offer a range of whitening options, including one time Zoom Whitening, custom trays and take-home kits, to individual touch up syringes and whitening pens.  Your hygienist will go over the option that's best suited to your needs.
